ABOUT NEUSTADT, ONTARIO!

Filled with rural historical character, Neustadt Ontario is a picturesque village located in the heart of the Municipality of West Grey.

Neustadt, German for “new town”, was founded in 1855 by David Winkler and became the birthplace for of the thirteenth Prime Minister of Canada, John Diefenbaker. Neustadt prides itself on the many historical buildings and attractions such as the Neustadt Springs Brewery which is housed in a building that dates back to 1869 and the home of John Diefenbaker which has been preserved as a national monument, to name a few.

In the April 2000 edition of the Harrowsmith Magazine, Neustadt was named as one of Canada's ten prettiest villages.
